Jerusalem TV - Holy week April 2009
Jerusalem TV is without doubt the best holiday club of its type in the whole wide world! For a week the Mission is converted into a TV studio and each morning the attendees struggle to hit the immovable mid-day deadline to bring the world news to us all.
See below for photos (please ignore the dates!) and details of what's occured each day.
Day Five - Where is He?
Well day 5 on Jerusalem T.V has drawn to a close and something definitely supernatural is going on...........reports have been coming in from all over ............... sightings...rumours...... possible events that may or may not have occurred. We can neither confirm nor deny these events until tomorrow... It is paramount that all our reporters ,viewers , family , friends and everyone reading this comes to the Cliffe Broadcasting Company HQ (a.k.a CliffeMission ) tomorrow (Sunday) at 10.30am to see for yourselves the climax of the past few days events... this is life changing stuff and NO mistake!!! Be there or miss out!!!!
Dancing to 'The Custard Cream Song is a good way to start the day.
The technicians meet to plan the order for the days news
Meanwhile Lilly, Abbie and other journalists prepare to submit their reports.
Here Luke and Tokpia prepare their report.
Whilst all this is going on the outside broadcast unit are conducting interviews with eye witnesses.
With the interviews safely in the bag, the crew breath a huge sigh of relief.
..before starting work on designing what will be the cover of their CD.
It may be fun for some but in the studio the pressure is really mounting as only minutes remain before we are live on air.
The artists show off their work.
The finished work of art.
Day Four - Good Friday
BREAKING NEWS....JERUSALEM T.V. DAY 4 TO ALL OUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES, IT IS WITH DEEP DISTRESS AND SORROW WE SHARE THE BREAKING NEWS WITH YOU....... ......JESUS IS DEAD. IT APPEARS JESUS REMAINED SILENT WHILST MANY FALSE ACCUSATIONS WERE MADE AGAINST HIM. THEN ROMAN OFFICIALS ORDERED HE BE BEATEN, WHIPPED AND THEN FINALLY CRUCIFIED. WHILST ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING WE TRIED TO HAVE A FEW WORDS WITH ONE OF HIS DICIPLES A MAN CALLED PETER HE SAID "I PRETENDED I DIDN'T KNOW HIM, I LET HIM DOWN AND I FEEL SO SORRY " HE WAS OBVIOUSLY UPSET SO WE LEFT IT THERE. JESUS SPENT HIS LAST BREATHS ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO CAUSED HIS DEATH AND THEN WITH A LOUD CRY HE SPOKE TO HIS FATHER IN HEAVEN......" IT IS FINISHED!!" ACCORDING TO JEWISH LAWS JESUS’ BODY HAS BEEN PLACED IN A TOMB KINDLY BORROWED FROM A FRIEND. THE PRIESTS HAVE ASKED GUARDS TO BE PLACED AT THE TOMB AND ALSO A LARGE STONE HAS BEEN PLACED OVER THE ENTRANCE. THE PRIESTS BELIEVE JESUS' DICIPLES MAY TRY TO GET AT HIS BODY AND THIS WILL PREVENT ANYONE FROM GETTING IN THE TOMB. WE LEAVE YOU ON THIS SAD NOTE BUT WE WILL COVER THE EVENTS OVER THE NEXT FEW DAY'S -HOPEFULLY THE PRIEST'S WON’T SUCCEED IN TRYING TO RUIN JESUS’ FUNERAL. ALSO HAS ANYONE SEEN JUDAS HANGING AROUND LATELY? WE WANT TO SCOOP AN EXCLUSIVE ON WHAT HE SPENT THE 30 PIECES OF SILVER ON.....

The board meeting was a rather subdued affair today - we all knew what we had to report on but no one felt like talking about Christ's death.
Chindong and Becks work on how best to communicate Christs death to the world.
The technical team make final preperations before the only rehearsal of the day.
Rosie and Matthew were our newsreaders for the day.
During the afternoon the older children went on location again - this time to re-enact Jesus and his disciples fishing.
Despite their best endevours they were unable to catch anything....
...until Luke caught a toddler. No hang on that's not right, take two.....until Luke caught a tiddler.
You rarely see what happens behind the scenes. Here Sue and Kim try to stop the wind blowing the fire into the actors eyes.
Jesus (Abbie) and His disciples (Luke, Becks and Maisie) cook fish over a fire on the lakeside.
Day Three
Well it is with heavy hearts we write this third day's news, to all our shock and dismay JESUS our faithful leader was arrested with swords and tied up like a 'dangerous criminal' by roman soldiers !!! , it seems he was betrayed with a kiss by his own disciple ...........JUDAS. It happened after the passover celebration meal , where eye witnesses say He had predicted this because He had said "This is my body broken for you , my blood poured out for the forgiveness of sins " It appears JESUS and a small group of close friends had gone to a secluded garden in order to pray when the soldiers arrested him. However things didn't quite go as they expected one of the soldiers had his ear sliced off , this was however healed by JESUS , because as we know his LOVE is for all......( not just those we like) Well it will be a nail biting wait till tomorrow to find out what will happen next , will JESUS prediction come true?? Did the healed soldier feel bad for arresting JESUS??? And what will happen to Judas??
Milo and Cassius show Luke and Wendy what they have editted from the video.
Mike and Dean go through some final checks before we go 'live on air'.
A practice run of one of the interviews.
"This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you can't tame a tongue—it's never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wanton killer" (James Chapter 3 v 7 - taken from the Message version of the Bible).
You can meet all sorts on the streets of Cliffe
Katie interviews a member of the public about what Easter means to her.
Maisie does the same down by the Six Bells public house.
Filming regulars inside the Star public house about what Easter means to them.
Day Two
Hello! To our faithful reporters families and friends!! Well......it seems wherever JESUS turns people are trying to trip him up and mess with him!!! BUT as we found out today He always has the answers. Tables and money went flying as JESUS got proper mad!! and threw sellers and money changers out of his fathers holy place!!! More trouble is brewing as nasty Judas has something up his sleeve , he goes to the priests to arrange a 30 piece payment to betray JESUS!!!! ( totally uncool!!!) the next exciting instalment follows tomorrow....... We'll keep reporting just make sure YOU are watching!!!
An ice breaker game before work commences

The tension mounts as we near going live.
Mike, Zak, Angela and Gemma hold a technical meeting to identify best camera positions.
Katie and Abbie interview an eye witness from Holy week.
Day One
Well as the exciting first day of JERUSALEM T.V draws to a close we leave with the story fresh in our minds! We have seen JESUS welcomed as KING!! humble and riding on a donkey (VERY COOL!). Meanwhile trouble is afoot in the temple as the high priest wants him TAKEN OUT!!!!!! ( bad news!!) All the while angry Judas wants Jesus to rage war and kill the Romans!!! What an exciting time we are in!!!!!
The 'Pharisees of Galilee union' today caused a number of technical problems for the Jerusalem TV station today resulting in poor sound to the mid-day bulletin. Thankfully these problems have now been overcome and we expect todays bulletin to be available on the web via the following link at somepoint during Wednesday 8th April.
The morning starts with a few icebreaker games before the real work commences.
Having heard what's gone on over the past 24 hours, the team gather together around the table to agree on the news headlines.
Here Abbie holds up the words for the interviewer whilst Luke (cameraman), Maisie and Chindong look on.
Rebecca is interviewed by Chloe.
Luke is nibbled by a hungry donkey whilst being interviewed.
Rosie and George edit the video sequence for one of the newsitems.
Felix and Dean show Angela how to use a laptop!
The afternoon session was a planning session for the rest of the week. Gemma works with the attendees as they contact some smaller TV stations (the BBC!) and arrange some on location visits.
Pre Day One
On the Sunday before Jerusalem TV some of those who attend Sunday School at the Mission worked on developing a back drop for the week.
Zak, Katie and Karl work on the backdrop.
Abbie, having inherited her mums artistic flair gets to work.
Baptismal Service 15th February 2008
The baptsim of Carol was a very special day - for some visitors it was quite a daunging expereince though!
Here Tony was summonded to the front for having the audicity to talk whilst Marion was undertaking a dangerous scientific experiment. Shortly afterwards he was send to stand in the corner!
Carol had been quite unwell in the week leading up to her baptism but, thanks to shedloads of prayer, was able to get to her own baptism. The service was fantastic with many touched by the Holy Spirit.
Baptisms January 2008
Sunday 18th January saw the Mission, St Helen's, Emmanuel and other fellowships come together to celebrate the baptisms of four local poeple - Dave and Kay Green together with Peter and Matthew Black. It was a fantastic afternoon of celebration, praise, and fellowship.
Dave was first through the waters of baptism.
Shortly followed by his wife, Kay.
Next up was Peter Black - what a privilege for any dad - to baptise his son.
Make that sons as Matthew followed Peter.
Narnia TV
For the half term week in October 2008, Cliffe Christian Mission was converted into a TV news studio. Each morning, the news crew would meet and then working to the mid-day deadline attempt to put together a news bulletin based on the goings on that day in Narnia.
Repeats of the actual news bulletins can be found by clicking here

Today, Dan was the Producer, Felix and Molly the lighing and sound engineers and Rosie was the newsreader.
Today we just had time for a quick sound check and final run through of the order before we had to go live.
Photos from Friday
The shocking news of Aslan's death made a very somber board meeting.
It was difficult to identify three different story lines when we were all focusing on Aslan.
Here Katie, Abbie, Felix, Bede and Maisie prepare their scripts for the interviews.
Sam, Rosie, Zak and Lewis edit video footage for inclusion in today's bulletin.
The studio crew of Abby, Dean, Harry, Maya and Chindong work desperately against the clock.

The final day - but what a day. Aslan back from the dead. Victory over the white witch at last!!
Excitement reigned as we watched a fantastic battle between good and evil.
Luke as producer and Rosie as sound and lighting engineer get to grips with the equipment.
Katie was chosen as the newsreader - she was the only newsreader in the week that the sound engineer had to turn the volume right down for!
Lewis put his artistic skills to good use - this picture of Aslan was the backdrop for the service on the Sunday and also the cover for the CD of the week.
Zak and Maisie editting film clips.
Dean and Chindong prepare for their parts under the watchful eye of the producer Luke.
Felix, Chindong and Dean just before the live broadcast. What a wonderful week it's been.
Mission Ramble
Sunday 26th October was wet. Very wet infact. It soon became obvious that we have many fair weather walkers in the Mission with excuses as to why not to go for a walk ranging from 'I want to watch Chelsea v Liverpool' (Liverpool won), 'I'm going on holiday' and my favourite ''I need to get some cat food'. That aside a few of us did brave the elements and had a daft afternoon.
Down the bottom of Rye Street out on the marches we found a small memorial to a WW2 plane that crashed there.
Jim and Karl celebrate getting half way up a hill!
Walking through the nettles just south of Cooling.
Soaked through - in the woods above Cliffe Woods.
Big Jim's Remembrance Service
Saturday 6th September 2008 was a great day - on this day we had a service of celebration and thanksgiving for the life of our former elder Big Jim.
Little Jim (who ended up bigger than Big Jim) puts together a display of the Mission during the time Big Jim was an elder.
Marion and Arthur, along with Kim, Sue and Nat lead us in the praise and worship.

More photos to follow!!
Ashburnham Place was a gorgeous setting - but we chose the best spot - right by the lake.
Jimmy bought his caravan and awning for £50 - he couldn't understand why it was so cheap!
Brian teaches us life saving skills before we go out on the water.
Linda, having just been presented with her medal, for winning the week long quiz.
Christopher shows off Dan's pike.
We have no idea how it happened but God sure does have a sense of humour. Some of us haven't caught a pike in decades of trying - Terry with the patience of a boiling kettle, casts out once and hauls in this beauty.
Lee demonstrates how big the pike was t hat he and Zak couldn't fit in his landing net.
Mission Picnic
Sunday 10th August following the morning service many of us wandered over to Knowle Park where we had our lunch....except Don who gave his to a deer friend of his.
Believe it or not, there was a small herd of deer behind this tree!
Luke and Simon pile on the runs.
Felix the cricket umpire.
Jon finally gets a run - much to the merriment of everyone else.

Car Wash
Saturday 7th June saw Mission folk back out in the village with the ever popular free car-wash.
We asked for someone to co-ordinate us but Kim went a bit over the top!
This was the first time the new Mission t-shirts were given a public air-ing.
Over 40 cars were washed in the two hour stint.
Rusty came armed with wellies and appeared quite disheartened that she hadn't got soaking wet - never mind there's always next month!
Funeral of Big Jim

Mission Quiz night and Dare2 Youth Weekend
The weekend of the 14th - 16th March was a busy one. We welcomed Dare2 from Herne Bay who took over the Mission for the weekend exploring God's Spiritual gifts. On the Saturday night we also held our first ever Mission Quiz night with around 120 people attending. Then on the Sunday, Dare 2 led the service - a service that including throwing the contents of a bucket over the congregation, singing 'there once was an ugly duckling' and having real live ducklings listenning to Andy Foster preach (some would say more intently than some of the humans!)
The weekend started with Dare2 spelling out a word using their bodies - here they are making 'love' on the floor of the Mission!
Tom and our Hannah explore God's word identifying different types of Spiritual gifts.
Dare2 Hannah and Little Jo do the same.
Beth and Big Jo explore other passages in the Bible - it was very complicated with two Jo's, two Hannah's and a couple of Shadows in the group!
Jimmy and Mark arrived early to take us on the ramble over the marshes so joined in the Bible study themselves.
Some of the group working through Bibler passages
Tom - wearing his pants on his head doing an impression of John Travolta - why? If you weren't there you may never find out! In addition to learning about God's Spiritual Gifts, Tom also learnt the Leeds won the FA cup in 1972!
A mid-night ramble led us to the sea wall where we had a campfire and cooked sausages and marshmallows. Little Jo will not forget this walk in a long time - unfortunately he returned with a broken arm!
Saturday saw the first ever Mission Quiz night. Over 130 people attended.
Wendy was our 'doorman' welcoming people in from the rain.
An excellent night - eventually won by a team from St Helen's with Dare2 coming......last!
Sunday morning and Dare2 lead the service - here they are teaching us the actions to a new song.
We had some real live ducklings attend the service - here Daniel tries to feed them bits of paper!
Christmas 2007 - lighting up the village

The view from the roundabout as you come into Cliffe - every driver has to look right to see if there are any cars and instead see 'Happy Birthday Jesus'
November 25th - Cliffe Christian Mission and the Salvation Army
Abbie tries to retrieve five pounds from a mouse trap inside a rat trap - why?!
Jon tells us about what goes on in the Sally Army - did you know that the Salvation Army used to be called the 'Christian Mission'
"Total Surrender" are the name of the band who led the service.
Nathan gives his testimony and explains that he first became interested in Christianity when he was 7 - that's the age of Milo who was helping out.
Louise, Jon & Nathan are all teenagers from the Maidstone Salvation Army Youth band.
September 30th 2007 - David & Nat are baptised
Baptisimal services are always amazing - this one was no different. Nat who became a Christian in May was so excited she couldn't wait to go under the water!
David has been associated with the Mission for all of his life - but it's only recently that he felt God telling him that he had to get baptised.
Nat & David's small group pray for them both during the service (NB:Nat is very small so you can't see her!)
Jimmy came dressed for a funeral - Nat & David's old lives were dead.
Jimmy was preaching but was so 'trigger happy' with his camera that he took a photo of the congregation!
After the service, there was a fellowship meal and Nat & David had a special cake made for them.
September 1st 2007 - carwash day again!
Another fine day as the Mission folk offer to wash peoples cars for free - no catches
Obviously all our helpers need training in the very technical aspects of the job. Here Angela receives expert tutition in filling buckets without getting her feet wet
Linda is our alloy specialist
wheras Don is responsible for QA'ing the coffee. Whatever our ages or abilities washing cars is something we can (and do) all help out with.
Jimmy uses the time as an opportunity to do some of his washing up.
Kevin has no need for a step ladder.
August 12th 2007 - Fellowship picnic at Bodiam Castle
After the morning service around 26 of us drove down to Bodiam Castle for a picnic.
Some of the youngsters (plus Kim!) explored all over the castle....
...whereas others just had a little snooze after lunch!
Not sure what they were looking at but I hope it could breath under water!
July 28th 2007 - Mission Beach Day
We got the weather right - just forgot to check the tide times! Still a great day was had down at Minnis Bay.
"The foolish man built his house upon the sand...."

Jim & Beryl came down as well - there are no photos of Beryl who said hello and then shot into the sea to show the kids how swimming should be done.

June 10th 2007 - Welcoming Rich and Sian into Membership.
Rich gives his testimony - June 10th was the final Sunday of our 40 Days of Community campaign and what a brilliant way to finsh by welcoming two dear friends into the fellowship.
Sian was so nervous about giving her testimony!
Terry spent ages trying to choose the most appropriate background for a photo of Rich and Sian - finally deciding that the sound system was the best he could come up with (?!?)
